I thought it was sold as suitable for flowers etc so used it in pots and a herb planter. Results were mixed but generally not good as the compost became very hard. It was better mixed half/half with used compost to lighten it.
I recently ordered 10 bags of No 15 vegetable planting topsoil to top up my raised veg beds and was delighted with the speedy service; the person who delivered the bags was polite and very helpful, a great ambassador for your company. We opened our garden to the public along with others in the village in 2022 and I was happy to tell anyone who enquired that the veg beds were full of No 15 (and where to get it!).
I can say no more than I will be back before too long.
We got bulk delivery of soil improver and bark. Bags delivered on pallets so where the pallets can go is limited. No hydraulic delivery just a pallet lifter. Would recommend Field Compost for bulk delivery.

I haven't had the opportunity to plant anything yet, because of this I can't comment on it as a growth medium. Comparing the product to other bulk composts it would appear to have a rich organic structure and good moisture retention without getting too wet. A good consistency with no obvious signs of contamination, stones, plastic or wood.
Ordering and delivery were excellent, would recommend.
I've used Field Compost several times now and they're products are very good. The soil and mulch is so nice to work with and I feel like I'm giving my plants and veg the best and it's peat free. All my orders were dealt with very quickly even during the lockdown and they're always very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't look elsewhere now and I'll be ordering their mulch again in spring.

I have used Field Compost products because the quality is realiable and good standard, there is useful information online about each product including typical usage and a product specification sheet. The staff on the phone are very helpful and the delivery system is well thought out. If the customer provides useful information about the delivery site access and/or barriers the driver will be informed and adjustments made.

Field Compost are the third topsoil company I have dealt with. I only wish I had found your website before using the other two. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was very helpful, even calling me back with an access query about the delivery. The Vegetable Planting Topsoil is first class, soft and loamy with not a stone in sight. The delivery driver could not have been more helpful and all the French Bean seeds I planted were two inches high within eight days and are growing strongly. All in all one very happy customer!!

Field Compost were extremely helpful and the website was very easy to use. The soil calculator was really good and meant that we did not order too much.

High quality topsoil which was delivered promptly. Your driver was attentive and careful in placing the topsoil where it could be easily taken by wheelbarrow to a new raised bed which was under construction in the back garden.
Early plantings are already beginning to grow. We would certainly recommend this product and your service.
Great priduct and service, would definately use again
The soil blends from Field Compost are excellent products. I have received multiple orders and I literally love this stuff. The consistency of the soil, the warmth from the bag and the aroma give me great confidence of how well my vegetables will grow. Direct sown seeds have all germinated and plants are growing strongly despite the drought we have had. Delivery has been exactly as planned on each occasion.
I bought this at the start of May. It was delivered about a week later, not bad considering we are in the middle of a world wide pandemic. The only downside of this stuff is that I now have to mow the lawn nearly every other day. I don’t know what is in this stuff but it’s fantastic, my lawn has never been this good. I would certainly recommend this company and will be buying from them again. Thanks.
Brilliant service ..driver very helpful
I teach gardening at a primary school, and I've had my own allotment for thirteen years, and I've never come across soil as lovely as this. The texture is just perfect, far better than anything you can buy at a garden centre, and it's so nutritious the school garden is thriving on it!
This was the first time I had bulk ordered soil or compost online. I have to say that I am extremely happy with the process and the product. I had a couple of phone conversations which were very friendly and helpful. Also emails to keep me up to date with delivery. On delivery the driver was great and definitely went the “extra mile” to overcome obstacles due to accessibility to ensure a smooth delivery. The soil itself,on first sight, was obviously of very high quality. Great to handle and had a pleasingly warm feel to it. My veggies are growing extremely well and have been harvesting lettuce already. In summary. A great product and a pleasure to deal with Field Compost. I will most certainly be a returning customer.

Field Compost were brilliant, they called me back within minutes of my web request, my veg compost was booked and delivered within days. It is fantastic, I can't be more happy, my 3 raised beds are full and growing superbly, so far (nearly 2 months) I have not had to weed them. the moisture retention is also excellent. We only used the last few barrowful's for the tomato planters at the weekend. I cannot be more pleased and will be going back for some topsoil for the flower border very soon.
I am pleased with this product. I have converted my vegetable plots to raised boxes this year and have used two 1000litre bags to fill them. It is quite a learning curve but on the whole things are growing well. Best radish crop I have ever had. Even tricky things like parsnips are thriving. Things that are not doing so well are the result of too much rain rather than a failure with the product. I have also had 1500 litres of bark and am delighted with that too. Excellent delivery arrangements and good service.
Great service from the whole team - from placing the order I was kept very well informed of status / progress. When it came to the delivery, I was a little concerned about access to our property, but the driver was excellent and managed to skillfully navigate our driveway and leave the consignment conveniently placed for where I'd be using it. Excellent service !
Good product, knowlegeably delivered
Rather than buy multiple small bags of compost I ordered a large large bag - much easier and probably cheaper, best present I've bought myself for a while!

I have recently purchased high quality top soil & compost. Can't even compare near with large retailer - product is great, customer service (Nicola!) helpful to choose correct soil/size/deliver date. And finally driver, who placed all 4 tonnes of soil over my fence inside of my garden. It saved me hours of labour and my back.

Delivered on pallet and left where instructed. Soil is excellent quality and easy to transfer to a barrow for transportation to where it was required. Very good value for money if you can handle the massive bag it comes in!

First time I have used this company and I would definitely recommend the veg top soil , it is excellent quality. Will buy from them again without hesitation . Delivery was efficient and the chap was very friendly. When I placed the online order it stated I would get a confirmation mail through with a delivery time, unfortunately the mail only came through an hour after the delivery had arrived so if you need a specific time slot, maybe phone them to confirm on the day.
We have used field compost for a number of years now, and they are the only trusted soil supplier we use now. We run a multitude of landscaping works across London, and Essex, and have called on field compost every time to supply our soil based products. This is the first time that I have used this company but it won’t be the last. I am extremely impressed with the veg soil I ordered, fresh that day and a rich dark colour. I have used it to fill my raised veg beds. Delivery was prompt, although I didn’t get a call or notification until an hour after they delivered, so that may be an issue if you want the soil placed in a Specific location, luckily I was at home when it was delivered. I would totally recommend buying from field compost.
Perfect quality soil for growing different vegetables. We have used this soil on lots of our jobs to fill raised beds and mix into the top layer of the existing soil. Great results year after year.

We decided to build a number of raised beds filled with topsoil from these guys.
I have already begun to harvest cucumbers, rocket and strawberries with tomato, runner bean, mangtout, lettuce beetroot, carrot all well on their way.

I ordered this topsoil for some raised veg beds, not planted anything yet, but it seems like good quality, with lots of organic matter. Good value for money, when compared to the other suppliers.

Brilliant topsoil.
Have purchase top soil from Travis Perkins before and the quality and quantity of this product is far superior. Only negative is that it arrives on a pallet and you then have to wheelbarrow the soul to the location you need it. But this is very clear on the purchase instructions. Product also arrived quicker than most Amazon Prime products!
Fabulous. Not being familiar with metric measurements I bought far more than needed originally, but I was encouraged to get more planters and raised beds. Now I have a large greenhouse and several places to use it. Would buy it again.

Fantastic topsoil and great value in such a huge bag. Good quality, no weeds or other foreign matter. Used to fill my raised beds and veg growing at a fantastic rate.
This is the second order we've made with Chris (Mister Compost) so I guess that says a lot. He quickly followed up our order with a call to check on the delivery and talk us through the options, even advised us on how much soil conditioner we needed vs. topsoil for our conditions. He certainly knows his subject. Orders are sent out/confirmed on wednesdays (the day we ordered) so we even got delivery on the Friday. The soil arrives via a very large lorry, on palettes, a ton of soil in each bag. The soil conditioner they sell, is very fine with a very low peat content. This will help break up heavy clay soils. The topsoil has a higher peat content, more particulates. We used a layer of 2-3 inches of each. Buying this way is definitely more economical than small bags from the garden centre. I read several reviews of providers before ordering, as quality was my main concern. I can definitely confirm the quality of the soil from Mister Compost, we've been very happy. Fair amount of work but plants and lawn are loving it.
