I used these bags last year and had ooor results. Tried again this year and it’s the same. The tomato plants are losing colour and the growth rate is slow. I am now removing the plants from the grow bags and putting them in pots of general purpose compost. The tomato plants that are already in general purpose compost are looking far healthier. Reply from Field Compost Ltd: Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and we are sorry that you are disappointed with the performance of the grow bags. One of the biggest challenges when developing peat free growing media is finding a blend that will consistently work well with all plant species. This product contains a small percentage of PAS100 soil improver which is a great source of slow release organic nutrition and reduces the need for watering. However seasonal variations in the composted garden material that make up the soil improver can make it susceptible to occasionally high levels of sulphide and chloride. This can inhibit the bioavailability of major nutrients and slow down plant growth. This is not a common issue but is something we are addressing with the development of two new products that are currently being trialled and that will hopefully be available for spring 2021.
we have had some very good feedback from our customers who have purchased these, we use them ourselves in our own vegetable gardens with terrific results
