We have also provided a quick tour on how to navigate this new site, from the home page to menu drop-downs, product pages to the checkout process.
It may look different but its fundamentally the same; we still have the menu tab at the top, our product categories, featured products, and recent blog posts on show – same as our old home page!
You will notice the yellow banner at the top: here we can add important updates and news, as well as showcase new products, blog posts or discount codes! The slideshow is also new and offers me a place to show off my photography skills haha, but more importantly, it is a quick way for you to access things like our signature products, delivery pages and blogs.
If you scroll down on our home page, there are quick links to access our volume calculator, product finder, and local and national delivery pages.
And if you scroll down even more you will see the beautifully designed bottom of the page and some customer reviews.
On the menu tab we have drop downs for ‘Garden Products’ and ‘Need Assistance?’ as well as links to our Trustpilot reviews and a sign up page for our Compost Club newsletter – oh and our contact details!
Now, our menu tab is actually inspired by the Cartier website (fancy, I know). When asked to find inspo for website designs and features, I just Googled well-known high-quality brands (like us 😉 ) and really liked this layout. So, when you click the drop-down tabs, instead of a just a simple list, there are pictures to match!
Under this tab, you can see our different product categories: Composts and Soil Improvers, Barks and Mulches, Soils, Horticultural Sundries and Lawn Care products. You can also browse our Signature Products (developed and designed by us) and Mixed Bundles, or view all our products at once!
Under the images, we also have quick links to our product finder and volume calculator: two very important pages for help customers find what they need and how much they need.
This tab makes it easy to find our information pages about our local and national delivery options. There are also links to our list of stockists, our blog posts that provide monthly advice and updates, and FAQs.
You will also find our product finder and ‘How Much Do I Need?’ pages.
These are also pretty much the same and all include the product’s name, description, reviews, pictures, quantities and prices. To aid our customers, there is also a volume calculator on each page.
Under the product name you can find a brief description of the product, and if you scroll down you can find even more information about its benefits and how to use it. We also have handy product specification sheets on each product page for you to download. These spec sheets have detail on the product and how to use it, as well as the sciencey-stuff like physico-chemical properties and nutrient content.
Every product page includes pics of the compost, mulch or soil so you can see the look and texture of it. We also aim to add more customer pictures and pics taken in our yard, so you can see the product in use and its results.
There will also be images of the bag sizes that this product can be bought in, with our MD Chris as a size reference. Our bag sizes range from 25L small bags to 1500L Jumbo Bags, depending on the product type and weight.
We also have different and more quantity options to choose from on this new website – we hope this gives our customers more flexibility in how much they want to order.
Just like the old site, to view our prices, just input your delivery postcode and the prices will appear for each quantity option.
You can now add single bags to your order! At the moment, you can add single bags of our No.2 Growbags, No.23 Potting Compost, No.20 Horticultural Grit or a 1.75Kg bag of Barenbrug All Rounder Grass Seed.
You can add these onto your existing order, unless the only thing in your basket is a full pallet of small bags.
Due to delivery restrictions and prices, we have a minimum order of 5 bags. But sometimes you don’t want this many and we understand this; with this new feature, customers can now try out a new peat free compost or add on a bag of grit without paying for more than what they want.
At checkout, customers now have an option to pay by Apple Pay (if viewing our website on their phone), or by PayPal.
You can still pay using your debit or credit card, and you can also ask our system to save your card details for faster checkout in the future.
This is the same as before but I thought I should explain the process for new customers:
If you have a discount code for the items in your basket, there is a box to add them when viewing your basket, before checkout.
If you are happy with your order, click the yellow button “Proceed to Checkout”.
Now you can provide your delivery and contact details, as well as delivery instructions. Please do double check that your email address is correct.
After payment, you will receive a confirmation email that your order has gone through – don’t forget to check your spam/junk folders if you can’t find it.
We will contact you soon after payment with details about when and how your order will be delivered to you.
