Field No.5 High Quality Fine Grade Topsoil
What is it?
A finely graded <4mm blend of sandy loam topsoil and composted organic material.
What does it do?
Has a multitude of applications but is most commonly used to level uneven areas of lawn as part of a seasonal maintenance programme.
What are the benefits?
- Field No.5 is blended with a high quality sandy loam that is ideal for levelling uneven lawns
- Field No.5 contains high levels of organic matter which improves the soils ability to hold on to water.
- Field No.5 provides organic nutrients to both established lawns as well as germinating new seed.
- Field No.5 can be also be used in small pots and planters as a topsoil, just fill pot to required level.
How do you use it?
Easy to use as it contains no lumps or stones. Just simply level to required depth using a shovel or the back of a rake. Sow grass seed evenly and rake to cover and gently compact with either a garden roller or by using your feet.

Worth every penny! Deliberated buying for two years but kept comparing price per bag vs DIY shops. Finally bit the bullet and bought 10 bags. This stuff is in a different league. It's fine, easy to spread and level straight out of the bag. I've used it to fill craters and reseed dead areas in my lawn that our puppy created. I did the same exercise 3 years ago with our other Newfoundland dog and wasted hours sieving cheap topsoil from Wickes to still end up with sticks and stones in the lawn. You get what you pay for! Amazing Product. Cored my lawn and did some top dressing using field no 5. My grass has never looked better. Hard to believe that big uk wide garden companies can get away with fleezing people with so called top soil that is in fact full of clay and stones and glass. Like spreading butter. I have been searching for a while to find a product that was of top quality. Most off the shelf i have used over the years have always seemed to contain large amounts of stones, twigs, even glass which causes problem when spreading and mowing. I found Field through a youtube specialist Danny Hibbert who is one of the best instructional experts with years of experience and he highly recommended Fields products. Little did i know just how amazing they really are. I placed an order for the Field no5 for a topsoil levelling and grass seeding lawn project. Ordering was easy and customer service is as good as you need it to be. They check out on google your site/delivery address to make sure the delivery lorry can reach there and then contact you to arrange a suitable date for delivery. The delivery was made on a pallet and placed exactly where i wanted. Perfect. Then i opened the bags and was delighted to see the best dry crumbly topsoil/sand/compost mix ever. This thing spreads like butter and is so easy to manoeuvre and cover exactly as needed it covered a large area with no waste. There was not one stone in it and was as flat as i have ever seen. The price may be a little more than others but for sheer quality, customer service and expert knowledge i think it is worth every penny. Customer satisfaction is paramount and getting the job right first time to create a lasting end result is essential. The resultant lawns were perfect, thick, green and lush. Thanks to the team at Field. I highly recommend anyone thinking of using this company, you won’t find anyone better.

Fantastic soil and delivery. Although a little more expensive than soil from other companies, it’s a case of ‘you get what you pay for’. After deciding to place my order of 30 x 25l bags of Field No. 5, I very soon received a phone call from a friendly gentleman, thanking me for my order and asking when I would like delivery. Delivery was requested for the end of that week and was delivered on time and by a friendly lady using a motorised pallet truck, thereby able to bring the pallet up to the top of our slightly sloping driveway. The soil was bagged well and no bags were split. The quality of the soil is excellent – very fine and no stones found whatsoever in the12 bags used so far. Highly recommended.

Top quality fine grade top soil which I used for filling in hollows in lawn. It’s dry with a bit of compost material included with minimal stone content. I’ve made my own previously with as dug soil but by the time it takes to dry it and sieve it buying this product is far more viable unless you like your back aching and you got a lot of time on your hands. 1 litre per mm (In height) per m2 if you need to work out how much you need.
